Project History
The Montebello Water Treatment Facility was constructed
in 1936 and is the main drinking water plant for the city of
Baltimore. A total of 270,400 square feet of cement topping
was placed to resurface the four settlement basins.
The reinforcing steel was cleaned of scaling rust and
coated with a long open-time corrosion coating that
allowed the preparation phase to be accomplished weeks
before shotcrete was applied. The concrete surfaces
were coated with a long open-time bonding primer, which
allowed flexibility in scheduling of shotcrete application.
Conpro Primer because it is water-based and does not
have an odor was also ideally suited for this application.
Time Frame – 1995
