Project History
Today “West Land” is a private residence but in its
early history was home to our 22nd and 24th President,
Grover Cleveland. Harsh winters and water penetration
caused considerable damage to the stucco façade and
brownstone sills. The architect prefered to work with a single
manufacturer for the diverse repair and rejuvenation of this
landmark. Structural Skin, a fiberglass reinforced cement
was chosen to repair the stucco because of its flexural
strength and resistance to water. The decorative finish is
Conpro Flex in “Contemporary” texture. The combination
of integral color and flexibility of this trowel applied coating
made it ideally suited for this project. MIMIC, a color matched
repair mortar for natural stone was used to rebuild the
deteriorated brownstone windowsills. Conproco M3P mineral
silicate paint was used to coat a brownstone water table,
and to blend it with a similar detail on the east side addition.
